We will create a festive ecotopian San Francisco scene in the lot between the two murals. We welcome spontaneous contributions to this theme!

About the murals:
  • Mural sizes: 14' x 65' (4,26 x 20 meters) on the East side, and approx. 12' x 65' on the West side.
  • Design and painting by Mona Caron.
    Artist's assistant: Lisa Ruth Elliott.
    Project coordinator: Joel Pomerantz.

    The mural theme
The mural comprises two paintings, on opposite walls that face each other over a small park and parking lot. As a tie-in to the weekly farmer's market that is held there, both murals feature giant botanical illustrations of vegetables and their plants, leaves and blossoms. A scroll-like ribbon weaves around the vegetables. Wherever the ribbon is larger and appears closer, there are be views of the neighborhood shown within it. On the Eastern wall, these views show scenes from Noe Valley's past (late 1930's) and a future vision. On the western wall, there are two views of the present: one of the upper, Western part of 24th Street (Noe Valley), and one of the adjacent Mission District part of the same street.
