Plantago Lanceolata
Ribwort plantain, latin plantago lanceolata, at the corner of Sansome and Green, in San Francisco.
Part of the Weeds series, the mural is based on a nearby spontaneously occurring wild plant.
This is an anamorphic mural, in which the image is designed to resolve into a continuous natural shape when seen from a specific view point.
A stencil on the ground, at some distance from the wall, marks the key viewing spot, from where the image looks most naturally proportioned and dimensional. The image skews and fractures into unexpected abstract art the further one moves from the key viewing angle.
