Art at COP21 Climate Summit in Paris 2015
Here are some paintings and graphics I created in Paris for the climate justice demonstrations and civil disobedience during the COP 21 Climate Summit.
I made some paintings directly on banners, some silk screen graphics also used online and on flyers, and the rest of the time I helped grassroots groups lay out lettering and visuals on banners, helped David Solnit hold down the painting space at the Atelier des Possibles, and photographed the actions.
Among other things, at the request of Pennie Opal Plant of Idle No More Bay Area, I painted life-size portraits of some of the phenomenal indigenous women leaders from both North and South America who are at the front lines of defending their territories from the continuing expansion of fossil fuel exploration and extraction.
I also made corresponding North and South -themed images of nature, as magnified botanicals in my Weeds style.
