EMER(GENTES) - a collaboration of Mona Caron & Liqen
Break out of our matrix, and find each other anew! Emerge in circles of conviviality, bonfires of the heart... A collaboration by MONA & LIQEN in Vigo, Spain.
By invitation of the City Council of Vigo, and fruit of a long-standing sympathy between Mona and Liqen, this mural came into being in the summer of 2017, as a reflection on connectivity vs connection, on conscious and subconscious ailments of our times, and on its antidotes...

The mural: an appeal to our gente, a look at emerging futures...
A dystopian landscape of artificial connectivity, where earth is tiled shut with telecommunication devices mixed with surveillance mechanisms, eery psycho-pharmaceuticals and digital memory, within a maze of circuitry plugging into vestiges of colonial history, lurks in the purple shadows....
...Yet within this landscape there are still gaps through which alternatives can grow: some humans manage to escape the matrix from below, by climbing the WEEDS within the system, and finding warmth and refuge within blossoming bonfires of unmediated conviviality and direct dialog amongst diverse peoples.
The concept was developed in close collaboration, Liqen's freestyle genius created the most beautiful-looking dystopia, while Mona grew the weeds, along with the humans climbing them and huddling around the bonfire.
