Freeway

Freeways, freeways everywhere.... but which ways are truly free? And which are the ways that lead to freedom?

This was a mural drawn fast and ambidextrously, using big chunks of charcoal in both hands, and it was created as a performance for ILLUSION 3 - a live art happening at San Francisco's Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts.

The year was 2005, which was the era of "freedom fries," of oil wars "to defend our freedom". I drew a bird's eye view of it all, from the dove's perspective.

Borders, barriers, and lies everywhere, is what the dove sees, as it flies free, far above the oil-based world below.
